Music Played on Tuesdays for the Social Tango Dancing - when and why

Typically the music on Tuesdays in Cambridge is played in tandas of tango, vals, tango then milonga, without cortinas

The basis and majority of the music on a Tuesday is from the "Golden Age".

We like the DJ to pay attention to the dancers and adjust their musical selection to to initiate energetic, calm, rhythmical, melodic, connected, fun, playful, small, big and sometimes a bit naughty dancing according to the atmosphere, space and dancers.

Usually, but not always, a few single "specials" are inter-spersed during the evening and a few more unusual tracks (tango/vals/milonga and/or "specials") tend to be played towards the end.

What are "specials"?
This is a bit hard to describe, however I will do my best: typically this is music that was not composed or intended to be tango music that people like to dance tango to. Not all tango dancers like to dance tango to "specials". If you do not like the "special" please enjoy the little break in your evening to chat with someone and/or have a drink.

Guest DJs are encouraged to do what they do best and are advertised in advance. Some guest DJs use cortinas, some play more "specials" while others will be much more "traditional".
