One possible, simple, definition is "Tango is an improvised dance based on mutual
communication such that two people move as one." But, of course, everyone who
dances has their own image of Tango.
Longer definition and history, below.

TANGO, the dance, is a conversation between two people.
You, and a dance partner, can express musical moods through improvised movements.
You can dance simple tango after one lesson, but spend a lifetime developing your own dancing.
Tango originated in the "Rio de la Plata" at the turn of the last century, and born within the immigrant and lower class communities in this area. During the next few decades tango spread throughout South American society and then throughout the world.

Tango communities exist in most countries of the world, and more are being born all the time.
Tango classes, milongas (social dance) and workshops have been enjoyed by a broad spectrum of enthusiasts at Tango Bar, in Cambridge, since October 1997.
